Synopsis
Set in 1936, Yusuf navigates life between his rural village and the vibrant yet tense city of Jerusalem as villages across Mandatory Palestine rise against British colonial rule. Amid rising Jewish immigration escaping antisemitism in Europe and a growing Palestinian uprising, all sides spiral toward a decisive moment that will shape the region’s future.

Cast and Production
Featuring Hiam Abbass, Saleh Bakri, Dhafer L’Abidine, Yasmine Al Massri, Billy Howle, Liam Cunningham, Robert Aramayo, and Jeremy Irons, Palestine 36 is one of the most ambitious films in Palestinian cinema history. Production began in January 2023 with extensive set restoration, period costumes, and historical props. Filming faced multiple interruptions due to regional tensions, including a temporary relocation to Jordan, but the team completed shooting in Palestine after thirteen months of dedication.
